Friends of the Tenth – Memorial Day

The Friends of the Tenth will hold a Service of Remembrance to remember the 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment and mark the 81st Anniversary of Operation Market Garden. It will also provide the ideal opportunity to dedicate the ‘Memorial Pathway’ that has been developed.

The event will take place on Saturday 13th September 2025 at the 10th Parachute Battalion Memorial, Burrough on the Hill, Leicestershire LE14 2QS. Details are as follows:

12:30 – Reception in the ‘GBLC’ building, marquee and grounds with coffee, tea and soft drinks

 13:45 – Assemble at the 10^th Battalion Memorial for service of remembrance

 14:00 – Service of Remembrance and dedication of the new ‘Memorial Pathway’, led by The Reverend Jane Walker

 14:45 – Service ends and return to the GBLC: bar open and hot food available all afternoon

 15:00 – Afternoon live background music & FoTT sales table

 16:30* – WW2 Tribute act trio- ‘The Ladedahs

17:10 – Afternoon Live music. Address by the Chairman

 17:40* – WW2 Tribute act trio- ‘The Ladedahs

 18:20 – Afternoon Live music

 19:00 – Event finishes

 No admission charges – but donations requested on the day Carparking on site

The Tenth Battalion Trail

A guide to places related to the 10th (Parachute) Battalion’s nine months in Leicestershire before the Battle of Arnhem in 1944.

A beautifully produced A5 size information and guidebook of some 115 pages with more than 90 illustrations, most in full colour. There are descriptions of the 10th Battalion Memorial and the various locations occupied by the Battalion in 1943-44, many of which are marked with maroon heritage plaques. It includes a concise history of the Tenth as well as detailed walking and driving guides with full colour maps. Included is a list of recommended places to stay, eat and drink.
