The Court Service Of Northern Ireland is preparing to hold a new inquest into the death of Desmond Healey, 14, who was killed in disputed circumstances during rioting in the Lenadoon area of west Belfast on August 9, 1971.

Members of the Regiment may be asked to assist the coroner with her inquiries. If regimental veterans are approached, we advise contact is made with DJEP or AOLB using the numbers provided in the court letter, to gain access to legal support funded by the MoD and wider support from the Army. This support will be provided through RHQ PARA working closely with AOLB.

Court proceedings can be extremely stressful. If you, or anyone that you know is suffering as a result of the legacy process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the RHQ Legacy Officer, email paul.rodgers694@mod.gov.uk or with the Regimental Welfare Officer, Laura McPhilemy who can be contacted at how@supportourparas.org or on 07702190685.
