Airborne volunteer Eugène Wijnhoud became Renkums honorary citizen of
OOSTERBEEK / ARNHEM. Mayor Agnes Schaap of the municipality of Renkum has awarded this to Eugène Wijnhoud on Saturday 26 October 19. At his farewell reception in Oosterbeek, she presented him with a Renkum medal of honor.
The born Arnhemmer can now call himself an honorary citizen of Renkum. He received that title for the time he spent in the Airborne commemoration in recent years. Eugène has been a volunteer since the early 1980s and has done a lot for the commemoration at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek.
“This has resulted in an even stronger bond between the United Kingdom, Poland and the Netherlands,” said the Renkumse College of Mayor and Aldermen. With the honorary medal, that is to express its appreciation for the work that Eugène has done.
Eugène already has an award from the British. In 2005 he received the Most Excellent Order (MBE) of the British Empire in The Hague from the British ambassador Lyn Parker.

Our congratulations and best wishes to Eugène for his work over the years and his outstanding support to the Airborne Forces Security Fund and RHQ PARA.
