Sonder Pictures are developing a major new war film depicting the 13th Parachute Battalion’s role in the Normandy Invasion and the subsequent Battle for Normandy. They have reached out to the Association to appeal to members and historians with a knowledge of events of the time to step forward to help with development and production. To be called True Valour the film is based upon the Battalion’s war diaries and veterans’ accounts and depicts the battalion’s gruelling preparation for the D-Day landings in June 1944 before following them through 13 weeks of hard fighting, joy, loss and victory in and around Ranville, Le Mesnil and Pont L’Eveque. The story is one of the real heroism, camaraderie, grit and determination of the soldiers. Intended for release in June 2019 to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the producers believe the film will attract huge public interest and has significant commercial potential.
