Arnhem 81st Commemorations 2025

The Arnhem 81st anniversary commemorations will take place over the weekend 19-21 September 2025.

The details below are of Arnhem 2024 and are provided as a guide only. Dates and timings will be confirmed nearer the time as information becomes available.

The outline of events remains the same as in previous years however there may well be additional events held that have yet to be confirmed.

Fri 19 Sep 2025

  • 0930 – Stone of Friendship  Hartenstein Museum, Oosterbeek
  • 1100 – Internment of Ashes. Bill Williams, 3 Para. CWGC Oosterbeek.
  • 1100 – 21st Independant Parachute Company,
  • 1145 – Internment of Ashes. Joe Mawdsley, Border Regiment. CWGC Oosterbeek.
  • 1500 – Remember September 1944 Memorial. Nassaustraat, West Arnhem (Lombok) 6812
  • 1800 – John Frost Bridge Parade, Airborne Plein (Bear Pit) Service of Remembrance. Arnhem

Sat 20 Sep 25

  • 1000 – Parachuting Ginkel Heath
  • 1130 – Memorial Service Ginkel Heath
  • 1500 – Polish Service Driel
  • 1700 – RE Memorial Service, Driel

Sun 21 Sep 25

  • 0900 – Memorial Service Old Kirk
  • 1100 – Memorial Service Oosterbeek CWGC
  • 1600 – Air Despatch Memorial Service

It is not possible to reserve a (seating) place at the Cemetery. This applies to both individual visitors and groups. There is sufficient space at the cemetery to attend the service standing. A limited number of seats are available for those with mobility problems, such as the elderly and disabled.

All timings are event start times. You must allow plenty of time to travel to each location and take into account the volume of traffic and parking restrictions and limitations at various events.

Arnhem 80—Standard Bearers

Is your Branch traveling to Arnhem this year? Would your Standard Bearer like to take part in the Airborne Memorial Service in Oosterbeek on Sunday 21 September?

Details for Standard Bearers:

Friday 19 September 2025

Gather on the John Frost Bridge by 18.30 hrs and line up behind the Pipes & Drums RBL The Netherlands, together with the Polish Standard Team.

The March starts at approx. 18:45hrs. Standard Bearers that are entering the Bear Pit will be guided down a footpath, with the Polish Standard in front. Depending on space and numbers in attendance, the remainder may have to parade at the top with the band. All will be informed on arrival.

After the ceremony, the Standard Bearers line up behind the Arnhem band in the tunnel, for the march past towards the river Rhine.

After the march past they will be led towards the market square where the group will be dismissed.

Saturday 20 September 2025

The service starts at 11.00hrs. More details TBC

Sunday 21 September 2025

Standard Bearers, led by the National Standard of the PRA, will march into the Arnhem-Oosterbeek before the Service. They are requested to gather near the entrance by 10:00hrs and line up behind Pegasus Pipes & Drums.

The Airborne Memorial Service starts at 11:00hrs. After the Service the National Standard of the PRA will lead the group from the cemetery where they will be dismissed.
