The Coroner in charge of the Ballymurphy Inquest has provided the MoD (DJEP) with the first list of those witnesses she wishes to hear give evidence in court early in 2019. A letter informing those on the list was sent on Friday 4 Jan 19 and should have been received over the weekend. This letter provides likely appearance dates.
The MoD (DJEP) are responsible for making and funding all travel and accommodation arrangements including any security requirements. Witnesses are currently granted anonymity, subject to review. RHQ PARA are not currently being included in the MoD distribution and therefore do not know who has been called to act as a witness to the Ballymurphy Inquest.
RHQ PARA is providing pastoral and welfare support, advice and ensuring veterans are provided with appropriate legal support through the MoD. It would be helpful if those veterans who have been contacted by the MoD to informing them that they will be required to attend the Inquest contacted Lt Col (Retd) Paul Rodgers at RHQ.
